DESCRIPTION:FBC has the privilege of serving at the Network of Nations Intercultural Café on Friday\, January 31\, 2025. This is an opportunity to reach out to the International students at NIU\, and to reach the nations that are here in our backyard. The café is held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb. English Conversation groups begin at 5:45pm. Feel free to bring your kids as the students enjoy talking to both adults and children. \nHere is what we need: Casseroles or Soup\, Vegetarian Main Dishes\, Fresh Fruit and Dessert. We are also need volunteers to serve the food\, socialize with the students\, and help with set up and tear down. The food needs to be dropped of at Immanuel Lutheran Church by 5:45pm on Friday\, January 31. \nIf you would like to supply food but can’t drop it off at Immanuel Lutheran Church\, please let us know\, and we will work out a way to get the food there for you. SUMMARY:Gather 'Round for Chili & Soup
DESCRIPTION:Our annual chili cook-off in the gym has long been a spotlight on missions where we have had missionaries participate live and by sending video updates. This year looks different\, but we still want you to have a chance to connect with our missionaries; encourage them and be encouraged by their work. And\, it’s fun! We need a little of that just now. Please participate in whatever way you feel comfortable and safe.  \nMembers of the Missions Committee will be hosting the video calls of our missionaries from all around the world.  They will be joining us virtually while we enjoy some delicious chili or soup and gather with friends\, virtually or in each other’s homes. The missionaries will be sharing a short update along with their current prayer needs and praises and then hanging out to enjoy some much missed fellowship with us. This is a great opportunity to meet someone new or hear about a ministry you’ve already been a part of. \nSave the date for Sunday\, March 14 and join us for lunch from 12:30-2:00pm or dinner from 6:00-7:30pm.  \nHow can you participate? \n\nBe a Host – If you want to host a small gathering in your home\, invite friends over and join one of the virtual calls. DESCRIPTION:FBC will be participating in a Giving Tree opportunity to benefit Network of Nations’ students and families. This year we have a Virtual Giving Tree to help everyone participate. \nHow it works: \n\nClick here to view the Virtual Giving Tree.\nEach sign up slot will contain the recipient’s name\, country of origin\, and their gift request. Suggested gift price range: $30.00\nPurchase the gift(s) they indicated and wrap. If you are able\, it would be great to include a Christmas card with a photo of yourself or your family for your recipient\, along with a note. SUMMARY:Fall Food Drive for Network of Nations
DESCRIPTION:We hope you will join us in contributing to a food drive of non-perishable food items for the international grad students at NIU who cannot return home during COVID and who are without work and income. Some of these grad students have families that they are supporting as well. \nFood can be dropped off at the FBC office (please email ahead of time to arrange a time: office@cometofirst.com) or on Sundays during the worship service. A list of most-needed items can be found here\, or you can purchase local giftcards or make a donation to Network of Nations to allow them to purchase the food items. \nThis food drive begins Sunday\, Oct 11th and will go through Sunday\, Nov 1st.
