Why do we give?

We give as an act of worship – to honor God, to further the Kingdom and because it builds our faith and maturity. Proverbs 3:9 speaks of honoring the Lord with our “first fruits.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 encourages us to be willing to give generously and cheerfully. Luke 12:32-34 instructs us to store our treasure in heaven. Malachi 3:10 tells us to be faithful stewards of all God has provided for us. The parable of the Widow’s Mite as told in Luke 21 and Mark 12 explains how God wants us to give willingly of everything we have.
